Copenhagen
“Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen,” so the song goes. And you’ll see why Copenhagen is so wonderful with a half-day guided city tour, covering the highlights of this vibrant Danish capital. From cultural adventures to historic sites to national museums and art galleries, the city is a lovely mix of waterways and canals, giving Copenhagen a distinctly Danish feeling. You’ll pass by one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, Tivoli Gardens and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek art museum, built by the founder of Carlsberg beer. A drive through the canal district takes you by the National Museum and Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament and the Royal Theater, world-famous for its Royal Ballet. The splendid scenery continues with a drive to Amalienborg Palace, residence of the Royal Family. You’ll see the statue of The Little Mermaid, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale, one of the city's icons. Your tour ends with a visit to one of Copenhagen’s many magnificent churches. Enjoy the next morning at your leisure or travel with us on an optional tour to North Zeeland and Frederiksborg, Denmark’s most beautiful castle. The tour also includes a stop at Kronborg Castle, famous for its setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the charming town of Helsingor. Your return route will take you along the Danish Riviera to see how Denmark’s “rich and famous” live. Cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo Aboard a DFDS Seaways Cruise Ship. Enjoy fine wine and dining, swim, shop or watch the glorious sunset from the comfort of your deckchair. You'll be traveling first class all the way as we sail overnight from Copenhagen to Oslo. Bergen, Norway – A World Heritage City Upon arrival in Oslo, we’ll begin a spectacular drive through small towns and villages, verdant green valleys with towering mountains on each side to Bergen, a delightful town surrounded by seven mountains and the sea. Bergen’s wharf side, the Bryggen has high wooden 15th-century timbered houses and warehouses built by the rich Hanseatic merchants and is today on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. On an optional excursion visit nearby Troldhaugen, composer Edvard Grieg's home for 22 years, featuring his museum and concert hall. The Norwegian Fjords Carved out through a succession of Ice Ages, the Norwegian Fjords are considered one of the world’s greatest destinations and are now on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Mayflower Tours will take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery of white-frosted glaciers with an ever changing panorama of tall mountains and thundering waterfalls. Experience the famous Flam Railway, one of the best railway experiences in the world which descends 3,000 feet past cascading waterfalls and dramatic and rugged mountains. Then take a spectacular cruise on the Sognefjord and its branches. You’ll see a panorama of small, traditional farms and villages. With a little bit of luck, you'll spot the goats which graze along the edge of the fjords or the seals lying on rocks before the boat moors at Gudvangen. Oslo – A Capital City of Contrasts Norway's capital is one of the leading port cities in the world, with cruise ships and boats dotting the waterfront. Yet, just 20 minutes from the city center will find you in the great outdoors, surrounded by vast forests, ski jumps and myriad refreshing winter experiences. Mayflower Tours will take you on an exciting tour of the city through the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and beautiful, untouched nature sites. Stockholm, Sweden Often called “Venice of the North,” Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and is made up of 14 rocky islands that are connected by more than 50 bridges. Mayflower will take you to the highlights of Stockholm on a half-day panoramic tour including the City Hall and Old Town. Browse the narrow, cobbled streets of Old Town and shop to your heart's content at the contemporary design stores. You’ll feel the pulse of the city and see why Stockholm ranks as one of the top shopping, business and historical centers in Europe. Join us for an optional Royal Canal tour and see Stockholm from the water. Depart from Strömkajen and cruise along the shady canal of Djurgården. Later, continue to the Vasa Warship Museum and marvel at this fully restored Swedish naval warship which sank in the harbor of Stockholm on its maiden voyage in 1628. All tour prices are per person, in US dollars, based on double occupancy.
