Day 1 - Welcome to Copenhagen, Denmark!Your guided travel to Scandinavia begins upon check in to your choice of city-center hotel here in the capital of Denmark. The balance of your day is at leisure.
Day 2 - Explore CopenhagenLike many other Scandinavian and Baltic cities, Denmark's charming capital is very much a city of water, built on two main islands connected by bridges, surrounded by the sea, and interlaced with canals. It is without doubt a world class city with wonderful monuments, culture, dining, shopping and entertainment. But it's astoundingly laid-back - commuters cycle to work along the canals amidst manageable (!) city traffic and the downtown air at morning rush hour smells more of freshly baked bread than auto exhaust. In short, Copenhagen is sure to delight you.
Your escorted group sightseeing tour this morning will show you many of Copenhagen’s beloved landmarks, including the pretty Amalienborg Palace, official residence of the Danish Royal family for more than 200 years. You will also see the Royal Theater and Christiansborg Castle, home to the Danish Parliament. Continue past the colorful harbor district of Nyhavn to Gefion Fountain and the iconic Little Mermaid statue. Meals B
Day 3 - By rail to Stockholm, SwedenToday you travel by high-speed train to Stockholm, Sweden. Enjoy two delightful nights in the hotel of your choice.
Your hotels’ city-center locations in Copenhagen and Stockholm offer easy independent transfers to the rail stations. Or if you prefer, escorted private car transfers are available for pre-purchase in either or both cities. Meals B
Day 4 - Tour StockholmStockholm’s unique character derives much from its maritime landscape; it’s an enchanting city built across 14 islands. With this morning’s hop-on/hop-off sightseeing tour across this metropolitan archipelago, you’ll have a chance to admire the distinctive Royal Palace, completed in 1760 and designed with a unique style for each façade. You will also see the 13th century Riddarholm Church, burial place for Swedish Kings for more than 400 years, and the remarkable Town Hall, site of the annual Nobel Prize ceremony. The balance of the day is at leisure to explore at your own pace. Meals B
Day 5 - Enjoy more of Stockholm before your overnight cruise to FinlandEnjoy a free morning to explore or relax as you wish. Your hotel’s prime location makes it easy to get out on your own in this friendly city. In the late afternoon, board your ferry for an overnight cruise to Helsinki. Settle in to your comfortable outside cabin and relax on this voyage across the Baltic Sea. Meals B
Day 6 - Explore HelsinkiEnjoy breakfast onboard as your ferry ship sails into Helsinki. The capital of Finland is very much a town of the sea, built along a series of peninsulas and islands along the Gulf of Finland. Streets meander around bays, bridges stretch to offshore islands, and ferries ply the urban waters.
After disembarking, you’ll be greeted at the pier for an included transfer to your choice of hotel. Today’s sightseeing tour showcases the highlights of the beautiful ‘White City of the North.’ You begin in Senate Square, flanked by the neoclassical architecture of Helsinki University and the Council of State and dominated by the steep steps and imposing green domes of the Lutheran Cathedral of Finland, completed in 1852. Your tour also takes in the grand President's Palace, built as a private mansion, redesigned in 1843 as a palace for Russian czars, and the official residence of Finland's presidents from 1919 to 1993. Then continue on to see Finlandia Hall and the Sibelius Monument. Meals B
Day 7 - Depart HelsinkiYour program with us finishes after breakfast. Meals
