Spitsbergen is the largest island in the Svalbard island group located northeast of Norway, at 9 degrees south of the North Pole. It has a long, intriguing history of polar explorers, climate research and more. Wildlife includes walrus, reindeer, polar bears, arctic fox and more. Hurtigruten ships include this port when in the area which several shore excursions included in the rate.
